Shoe Care Guide

At RUOSH, we use only high-quality, hand-selected leathers. With the right care, your shoes will not only look great but also last longer.

Why Shoe Care Matters?

Leather is a natural material that reacts to environmental conditions. Regular maintenance helps preserve the finish, fit, and feel of your shoes over time.

1. Daily Care Tips

- Use a Shoe Horn

  • Helps retain the heel structure of the shoe.
  • Prevents the back from bending or collapsing while putting them on.

- Use a Shoe Tree

  • Helps absorb moisture and odor after wear.
  • Reduces creasing and helps retain shape.
  • Wooden shoe trees, especially cedarwood, are highly recommended.

2. Cleaning & Conditioning

- For Smooth Leather:

  • Remove surface dirt using a soft brush or cloth.
  • Apply a matching or neutral shoe cream using a cloth.
  • Let it rest and then buff with a horsehair brush or soft cloth for shine.

- For Suede/Nubuck:

  • Use a suede brush to lift the nap and remove dirt.
  • Avoid water; use a suede protector spray to guard against stains.
  • For minor marks, a suede eraser works well.

3. Storing Shoes

  • a. Store shoes in a dry, well-ventilated space.
  • b. Use dust bags or boxes to protect from dust.
  • c. Avoid plastic, which traps moisture and may damage leather.

4. Weather & Moisture Care

- If Shoes Get Wet:

  • Gently pat dry with a cloth do not rub.
  • Insert a shoe tree and stuff with newspaper to absorb moisture.
  • Let air-dry naturally. Do not expose to direct heat (like heaters or blow dryers).

- Avoid:

  • Wearing the same pair every day alternate between pairs to allow time for airing out.
  • Leather soles in rainy or wet conditions.

5. Polishing Tips

  • a. Use a cream-based polish to nourish the leather and retain its natural look.
  • b. For deeper shine, apply a wax-based polish sparingly.
  • c. Always test new products on a small area before full application.

Final Word

A little care goes a long way in extending the life and appearance of your shoes. Regular cleaning, protection, and proper storage are the best ways to ensure your RUOSH shoes remain stylish and durable over time.
